I just tried the Etch debian-installer RC1 on a Sun Ultra 80
and I believe this bug is relevant there.
Alas the current workaround is using the fbdev driver - but display
depths of 24 and 16 didn't work, so it is currently 1280x1024x8 bits :(

Hi,
I have been running some tests with and without xvfb-run.
In short, they fail in xvfb-run, and succeed on my framebuffer.
I am thinking that perhaps xvfb-run emits stderr chatter when used
with GL applications.
