You're right:
% ldd /usr/bin/Xorg
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xe000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2 (0xb7f63

What version of libxfont1 is installed?
1:1.4.0-1 is installed

Hi,
well I just upgraded my xserver-xorg-core to 1.4.2 and it works again.
I guess that nvidia-glx should depend on xserver-xorg-core >= 1.4.0 or
something like that.
Hi,
has anyone found a workaround for this bug?
This is still holding me back from upgrading my xserver.
Package: xterm
Version: 222-2
Severity: normal
With version 222-2 I get the following error on post-installation of the
package:
Preparing to replace xterm 222-2 (using .../archives/xterm_222-2_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement xterm ...
Setting up xterm (222-2) ...

It seems that no shortcuts with the alt key work correctly any longer.
For example if I try to asign ALT+another key to an action in
gnome-keybinding-properties, it will asign "ALT_L" to the action,
instead of waiting for another key to be pressed.
I purged xlibs, removed the remaining files in /usr/lib/X11/xkb/ and
then reinstalled xlibs und xbase-clients, and now it works.

That command doesn't output anything.

I must correct me.
Xev receives an event, but it has no symbol assigned to the key:
KeyRelease event, serial 25, synthetic NO, window 0x2c1,
root 0x8d, subw 0x0, time 33601052, (658,361), root:(664,426),
state 0x10, keycode 94 (keysym 0x0, NoSymbol), same_screen YES,
XLookupString
Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.3.0-3
Severity: normal
If I start a Xserver at display :0, the less/greater/bar key doesn't work. Xev
receives no event from this key.
The key works if I start a Xserver on another display than :0
