while looking for some clever debconf routines to reuse, I stumbled upon
an internal implementation of readline in postinst of xserver-xorg.
A comment indicates that the workaround kicks in, and is thus only then
relevant, when debianut
pgraded from 4.0.2-13.
Earlier on I have had to manually change a few lines in XF86Config-4, so
it didn't touch that file. My config is
