It still gives problems both for wm rendering (which renders the double
screen configuration unusable at all) and for random crashes.

This is a long standing issue apparently.
I rarely use xmodmap but for mod4 remap on thinkpad.
Something very easy like:
--
clear Lock
add mod4 = Caps_Lock
--
simply does not work when xmodmap is called within .xinitrc or .xessi

After upgrading to 7.0.0, keyboad layout cannot be loaded properly.
setxkbmap searchs for its maps under /usr/share/X11/xkb while
they are still under /etc/X11/xkb. Linking that directory appropriately

I had the same problem on two different boxes and
for the x-window-system meta-pkg too. The boxes are not simple chroot.
They are daily used for development and currently anyway upgraded.
I'll try to reproduce the problem by backversioning...

I'm interesting to use multiplane in Xaw3d lib. Is there a reason to have not it

all is working good in KDE 2.2.2
No changes to XF86Config-4, and all worked good soon. Wow!
My next test will be on my laptop,
with an ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY, which should be
supported by 4.2.0 (or I hope so)
cheers from Italy

4.2 supports surely Mobility M series, anyway.

I pointed the branden's prerelease,
Hi X-folks
Any chance that the card in subject can work with current pre 4.1.0-15
of the sid package?
It surely works with a 4.1.99 snapshot of Xfree86 as well as 4.2.0, but
I'd like to avoid painful builds of non-stock releases.
Thanks.
PS: Please, cc me.
