I probably should have mentioned it in my first mail, adding a symlink
from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libLLVM-3.4.so.1
to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libLLVM-3.4.1.so.1 fixes the problem.

Looks like this has been resolved by some update, no hangs for a few weeks.
Don't know what the problem was, but the last "[drm] stuck on render ring"
entry in the logs is from april 27th:
