After downgrading back to old version, problem disappeared

After upgrade (Preparing to replace libcairo2:i386 1.10.2-7 (using
.../libcairo2_1.12.2-1_i386.deb) ...) huge performance issues with
google-chrome-stableb and chromium.
If I open many (like 5) tabs at once from bookmarks, browser gets REALLY
slow, almost crashes. Feels like 10x slower than b
