Can you forward this bug to the DRI developers. I have tried 1.2.2 and
the latest CVS with same bad results. I also tried 1.2.0 from CVS which
froze the computer completely with DRI enabled. The latest working
version was 1.1.1 something and xorg 7.0!

It works fine as root.
I can verify that this package is the cuprit because downgrading to
1:7.1.0-5 fixed the problem.

The problem on Ubuntu is "solved". I had been using the vesa driver
(in /etc/X11/xorg.conf), changing to the ati driver (as what I have)
fixed the problem. Oddities: "cat /proc/mtrr" thought I had 128MB
only, setting "VideoRAM 262144" in xorg.conf (for the ati driver)
fixed that; but this change wa

During setup xserver-xorg shows this message:
