Worth adding, to solve your immediate problem, you can always use the
generic vesa driver instead of the chip-specific one. This wi
xfree86 4.3 is relatively old and therefore does not support intel 945.
The new version is Xorg (X11R7.1), which does support it (with i810
1.6.5). The new version of Debian stable ("etch") containing this
version of X is due for release in December.
The new i810 driver is currently passing final
