This is just a guess, but I believe the ignore message is from the
hotplug scripts and shouldn't break X. If you look in
/etc/default/hotplug you'll see an entry like
IGNORE_PCI_CLASS_DISPLAY=true
which just tells hotplug not to load any DRI kernel modules for pci
