the kde / kdm crash seems not to be caused by xserver-xfree86, because it
happens with ssh -X as well.
A friend of mine, asked for a strace [1] thinks it is a kernel-problem.
However, the missing sysmbols probably do not cause any trouble down here.

I've discovered, what are those IPs, they were on my lo:1...lo:5 set by some
software I use to block access from there. But then, why has it used them
instead of outgoing eth0?
I'd consider it still a bug.

I was having the same problem as described when I dist-upgraded to
xserver-xfree86 4.3.0.dfsg.1-2
As suggested, I changed XkbRules from "xfree86" to "xkb" and this
resolved the issue I was having.

I have just made a sarge install and I found that
dexconf default to PCI:0:1:0.
I expect most box to have a video adapter on the AGP port nowadays, so
PCI:1:0:0 seems a better default.
Also it is unfortunate XFree86 and lspci does not use the same exact
format for PCI ids,

Somehow I managed to take a hit off the crack pipe when prepping the XKB
data updates in 4.3.0.dfsg.1-2.
A patch file to fix this is attached.
(Yes, I've tested this fix.)
Here's how to use it.
1) Save the attachment someplace like /tmp.
2) Become root.
3) cd / && patch -p0 < /tmp/unfuck_numloc
