The following seems to demonstrate that xterm squelches the environment
variable TMPDIR. I'm guessing that it does this to close a security hole, but

the option to set the XkbModel to "type5_euro". The only option that you can
set that will work infact is type5_us (the Uk one freezes the install after the
welcome window after first boot up) but that totally sc
