Ryan, i would suggest building the package based on the head of the
1.7.2 git branch,
I added some bugfixes to that branch last week that are not part of
the 1.7.2 package.

I am both a conky developer and a debian user so i would like to adopt
the conky package.
I noticed Ryan Niebur already said he would do it but looking at
http://www.debian.org/devel/people he is already taking care of a lot
of packages.
I am no debian developer at the moment but i know some people
