Yes, just checked - it is possible to create RAID1 with missed drive using Debian Installer. Example of installation process you can find here: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/SoftwareRaidRoot But at screen "Let's select the partitions to use:" you have to choose only one partition. /Ili
