I hope this will be simple...
I recently re-installed Debian. After revising my apt.sources list, as
well as a good 'ol dist-upgrade to bring my system up to Debian
3.0/unstable, I discovered an interesting problem:
For some reason, while apt-get has no problem with the change, 'dselect'

The problem is simple enough; one I've traditionally solved by compiling

However, after I changed the hostname, I don't seem to be able t

I've been getting this error when installing/upgrading packages for
quite a while now. AFAIK, I have everything set up OK. Everything runs
OK. I just wonder what's causing the warning, and how to rid myself of it.

What programs (and documents) would I need to familiarize myself if I
wish to create a custom install set of Debian (unstable)?
Basically, I'd like to be able to take a snapshot of what packages my

Does anybody know of a place I can find more in-depth

While helpful, they seem to be just enough to get people going; I would

above locations.

I think the subject about covers it; My /var/lib folder has been nuked

Is there some way to recover the situation, or am I more likely to be
better off re-installing from scratch?!?
Thanks,

OK, I actually have 2 questions:
1.) When I mount a DVD in my DVD-ROM, it claims that it's ISO9660,

difference I've seen (cursory glance) was UDF has all uppercase
filenames. Is this really a problem?
