Hi,
I've been watching the spamassassin package page
(http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/spamassassin.html) for a while now, hoping
for spamassassin 3.0 to enter testing but it's being held (for 23 days) by
some 'aba'.
SA has no dependancies (as far as I can see) that need to be fulfilled

Hi,
I recently discovered that the debian packaged version (testing) of libgtk2+
and/or libpango1 cause my Laptop's Touchpad to become unresponsive once
loaded (kernel 2.6.7).
Since I compiled my own libgtk2+ and pango (./configure --prefix=/usr) I
have no problems and they reappeared when debian
Since some time I don't have any fonts/text in GTK2 apps anymore.
Everywhere characters should be , there's void and spacing is like minimal,
so it looks like font nothing, with space 0 is selected or so.
The configure app switch (for GTK1) has text, switch2 is empty like the rest
of the GTK2 apps.
get my dependancies back in order (/usr/lib) and have a working
gtk-2.0 subsystem again...
Hope this might be of any help to anyone anyway.

Hi,
I recently apt-get updated my debian-testing machine and received g[cc
++]-3.3.3-5. After this for some reason I (re)compiled Qt 3.3.1 and got
stuck with a broken KDE i.e. I could no longer start KDE through KDM.
Starting KDE from xdm, or from a bare xsession was possible, but fonts were

Use kernel 2.6.5, The prism driver is now a part of that kernel.

Since some time I have problems with my built-in Touchpad PS/2 mouse device
under X.
It's there, I can use it and it's fine. Until I start a gtk (1 or 2)
application and it's gone. It took a while to discover this was the
problem, since I thought this mousedevice just 'disapeared' after a while

Hi,
I have a couple of debian systems acting as media PC's that I want to make
as silent and economic as possible. One of the challenges is making the HD
spin (and stay) down when I don't use it for more than an hour or so.
The problem is that both system (single HD) seem to write to (or read fro
Thx everyone for the tips!
In the meantime I became father of a beautiful daughter so I have something
else to keep silent at the moment.

Hi,
Today I found OpenOffice 2.0 trickled down into testing, yay!
The first annoyance however smacked me in the face when I saw the default
userinterface font. I allready found out how to change this using font
replacement for 'Andale Sans UI', but I don't understand the following
things:

Hi,
Since OO 2.0.1-2 the non-antialiased UI fonts (and document fonts as well)
look extremely ugly (like the hints in TTF are not used). I am sure this
wasn't the fact in the previous version (2.0.0-5?).
Normally in KDE my menu font is a non-antialiased and perfectly rendered
small version (8pt)
Hi,
Since OO2 2.01-5 I miss hinting in my menu fonts.
A little research revealed the following:
1. There is a patent issue with bytecode hinting in freetype
2. Openoffice normally is statically linked against it's own bytecode
disabled freetype
3. Debian uses ooo-build, that defaults to --system-
