Regular users on my system (2.0.34) have a data seg size limited
to 20480KB (as shown in ulimit -a). Only root can change the
setting of its own shell to larger.

tcpwrapper only works on inetd activated ports. wu-ftpd runs as a daemon
and is not filtered by tcp-wrapper (same for apache)

Neither AFAICT. I don't see either having anything to do with APM
suspend. I'd rather

is the usual way to go. And since several month uptime is quite normal
for for a linux box this rather short program (a few days) should have
no problem. I commonly run programs which use up to 2 monthes of cpu on
a AMD 850MHz and never had any problem.

Probably : your root disk is corrupted, just create another one and try
again. This of course if you effectively switched from rescue to root

put a second line (besides LANG=) in /etc/environment
upgrade without error and remove the line if you have no use for it.

is your /etc/network/interfaces correctly configured ?
there should be
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet ppp
provider dsl-provider
assuming that dsl-provider is in /etc/ppp/peers
