I am trying to install Debian 1.3.0 on my machine. It is 100MHZ Pentium
with 32K of RAM, 2GB hard drive, Pioneer SCSI CD ROM, and two Ethernet
Cards; 3Com 509 and 3Com 590.
Hopefully I will be able to put firewall on it.
The very first problem was my RESCUE disc. It can not be read and BIOS
report
I have just installed debian 1.3 and downloaded some packages from the
ftp site. Since I want to use it as a firewall I have to recompile
kernel to enable IP forwarding.
How can I do it? How to configure second Ethernet card.
Thank you,
Drazen

I have recompiled the kernel to support IP forwarding. One of two 3C509
Cards that I have on my machine works. What is required to get my second
Ethernet Card working?
I have tried to add the append="ether=11,0x320.eth1" statement to
lilo.conf but it doesn't make it work. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Drazen
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. DO YOU KNOW THE PATCH NAME?

I have recompiled 2.0.29 Kernel to enable IP forwarding and firewalling.
When I try to configure ipfwadd it tells me:
ipfwadm: setsockopt failed: Protocol not available.
Does somebody have a solution for this problem.

I have set up a Linux host with two ethernet cards. IP forwarding is
enabled in the kernel and it is in its default state (accept and forward
everything). Both ethernet segments, eth0 and eth1 are alive.
1. From the Linux machine I can ping hosts on both subnets an
vice-versa.
2. From the LAN that
