I got lazy on my first Debian install (of Slink) and did the following
to get printing working on a remote RH Linux box with a HP DJ695C.
I copied all the RH box's files in /var/spool/lpd/lp/* to the same on
the slink box (/var/spool/lpd/remote on slink I left empty). I made
sure permis

shiny new K6-2-300 for free! (Seriously, they will do it.)
Some K6's had bugs that really only affected use under Linux with >32MB.
I recently had one replaced, but I had to get a new motherboard to
support the K6-2.

I am running the latest Debian release. My CD-ROM is connected to my Sound
Blaster 16 and was detected with no problem. I don't have sound, though, and I
am not sure what to do about it. Do I really have to recompile the Kernel to
support my sound card? Or, can I configure it as a module. S

I have two hard drives. Disk0 has Windoze98 and Disk1 has Linux. I can boot
to Linux with a floppy. Without the Linux boot floppy Windoze boots up.
What do I have to do to have a prompt come up at boot time to select one

pretty self explanatory and is easy to reconfigure. Check for a line
like:
route add -net 192.168.1.0
you might try adding a route like
route add -host 192.168.1.2 eth0
This assumes that there is only one ethernet card in your system.

These services always stick on the tag-line. Would that mess up the
auto-list stuff? Someone said that putting "STOP" on the last line of
the request forces the list program to ignore everything else in the
note. Would that be helpful?

May not be the "Debian Way", but it is pretty easy to use, and does
