I've started work on a package manager library that will hopefully
combine the best features of Debian's DPKG and Redhat's RPM systems.
My work upto this point is available at http://users.quicklink.net/~gith/
and it is FAR from complete. In fact it's just in its beginning
Many thanks to all those who provided input and ideas when I originally
announced my very minor project. It's to the point now where some fresh
points of view/ideas would be nice. For those who may be interested,
please check http://users.quicklink.net~/gith/ for the current work done.

Is the Debian distribution going to push for POSIX conformity?
I may be missing something here, ( I'm still a relative newbie
to Linux ) but what is the importance of it? After viewing the
Linux-FT web pages, the only good thing I can see about a Posix
certification is the right to go around patti
Today I upgraded to kernel-image-2.0.23_0.deb
On reboot, I got the following message:
CPU is a 386 and this kernel was compiled for a 486 or better.
The system then just gave up trying to boot.
modules_2.0.0-13.deb and procps_1.01a-6.deb were also installed
when i installed the new kernel image
r times.
I could use all the help I can get.

I just used make-kpkg to create a custom kernel.
Anything, I didn't need I didn't include support for in the kernel
and I didn't choose to make anything as a module.
The program created the kernel-image package with no problems,
however, I noticed that it still keeps the same, modules file

up to 5megs in my swap space.
This is weird. It seems as though it only happens when I'm connected.
I've never noticed or remember it happening when I was not.

I've installed tin and suck as way to read newsgroups locally.
The problem is, i haven't figured out how to use tin to read the
newly downloaded articles. If someone is using the suck+tin
combination for news, could you post here or e-mail me directly
on how to do it..
Thanks.
I saw this announcement in c.o.l.a and I am a bit confused.
There has been something called "NetKit-B-0.07B" uploaded to some of
the archive sites. This is an unauthorized release of NetKit-B. It may
