I've just set up a imap server, some of my users are having problems
migrating their data from client pc mailboxes to the IMAP folders.
1. should it take ages, to copy data from client email app(POP3) to
IMAPs folders with the sam client. example 10 mail iteams takes
over

connecting on standard port every is now fine :( I need a beefer machine

I'm not sure about resetting the stats for ifconfig, but if you use
IPtables on your box, you can setup a accounting chain for the IP (i
think you can also use the "eth" address, tho never have needed to do it
by "eth") which then logs the packets and data, you can then reset the
IPtables

If you give me an example of what your seeing that you dont want
logcheck to pick up on, i can give you the information needed to supress
it from logcheck reports.

according to some of my users this started on friday, today when I've
tried to connect (from OSX) it starts to connect then just hangs the
system. The only way I can free my machine up is to restart samba and
relaunch

I just did a mailserver migration, I was using sendmail and IMAPS
I would firstly get those 2 accounts back up the E450 like how you
suggest. I would then setup the Dell box with Debian and configure
ready for running a mailserver including IMAP. Althought I only had
30 mail accounts to move,
I've used traffic shaping, which required re-compiling and using tc
from iproute, and it works a real treat. I'm able to control bandwidth
out of my linux router independently of what bandwidth is used coming
into the network.
