The first time I used Debian it was version 1.2. I am now using 1.3
hamm which is nearly the same as 2.0, I think.
The system is really slow now. Is it because I am using the last version
of afterstep ? Is it debian 2.0 fault ?
Do you have same problems ?

I would like to know if there is some 'excel' like software under linux.
I would like it to be free and not to big: my modem will die if I try to
transfer some 30 Mo. Is there any one in debian CDs ?

I am trying to configure Debian in order to access my ISP (Actually
compuserve in France).
I am using Debian unstable version
I did the configuration as said in the ppp-HOWTO. Then I tried to
connect manually.
First, I ran Minicom and got connected. Then I left without resetting the modem

I had a look at it. It doesn't seem to be 'powerpoint like' since, as I
understood,
it use command file - not direct drawing using the mouse. The same

Yesterday evening, I discovered I can stop a ftp download using
netscape 4
and disconnect and then reconnect and go on the download at the point I
left it.
This doesn't work if I leave netscape while disconnected and try to go

I have got a philips 3610 CDR-W which is said to be supported by xcdroast
and cdrecord 1.6.
When I run xcdroast, it told me ni ' no SCSI-generic-support has been
detected '
and I can't select any cd burner in the menu.
So, I recompiled my kernel (2.0.34 with hamm) with SCSI-generic-support
You have got one with staroffice 4.0 (www.stardivision.com)
Another package is explorer (a win95 like). I didn't not tried it. I
think it is in
the contrib directory

I bought a US Robotics external modem. I don't find any documentation
saying how to install it, how to access my internet provider (do I need ppp,
sendmail...?). Could anyone point me to the good way.
