relating the packages I've shown in my previous post (python-cddb,
python-tk & al.) dselect refuses to install python1.5 and keeps
python1.5-base and python-base instead. I tried several combinations,
to no avail.

Please note you'll have to upgrade many packages in order to keep using
them with a 2.4 kernel, I recall now of pppd but there are others.
Check the docs in the kernel tarball.

something alike, the numbers are seconds IIRC.
I don't know much of this issues, but that kind of regularity in the
crashes has been discussed before on the list.
