I figured this one out :-)
Put "deb http://security.debian.org/ potato/updates main contrib
non-free" in apt sources.list file and then do the apt-get upgrade
apt-get update and presto! the working netscape 4.75 is installed!
I've tried it on text links and it seems to work fine
After upgrading all my packages to woody I no longer have afterstep
window manager available to me. When I select the window managers
button, I only have fvvm, gnome-icewm, wmaker, fvvm2. Somehow one of
the scripts changed things around. What do I do to get it back?

kernel2.2.17 sources. I've been running 2.2.16 because I had some
trouble with the 2.2.17 kpkg that I set up.
Question is, did apt configure 2.2.17 kernel to be the one that executes when I
reboot? If so will it have configured

I'm trying to get muttzilla to work with netscape. I'm running version
4.75, and slocate shows I have libc6 in /usr/lib/netscape/plugins-libc6,
when I click on a mail-to url, nothing happens. Anyone have this
working? I've checked, but there's no man page for muttzilla.

Got it running and other than an irritating little info box from
netscape complaining about not being able to convert string to "true" to

Can anyone tell me how to change the fontsize in xterm rxvt and
netscape? The fonts are huge.
How do I get rid of the graphic login that comes up when I log out of X? It
makes it impossible for me to do anything from the command line. It's the
yellow screen that asks for my username and password.

I made a mistake installing debian and I selected the fs -automount
module. Now my floppy won't mount from the icon on the desktop. I
suppose I need to change something in my fstab file to fix it. Also, I
can't mount my cd rom, but I didn't configure anything into the kernel
for cdrom modules. Can

Ok, that should work. I wouldn't have thought mutt would have allowed

versions, one was a traditional gnome desktop, the other a hybrid
debian desktop (which appears to be default). But when I was running
the traditional gnome desktop, which I started by putting [gnome-session] in a
.xsession file, it l

gnome-session no taskbar appears when I do startx. So I have remove
.xsession file and then default desktop comes up

It supports the card, I can connect to the volume meter, but I can't
connect to the mixer (this is in gnome panel). When I issue esd as super

How do I add audio to my user group definitions? I can change the file
permissions on /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer, but won't that make the system

never been able to get slrn to display an image in a binary newsgroup. I

If you copy the disk images for the frozen/potato distribution, you will
end up with kernel 2.2.17 and you can select dhcp in initial
configuration. I just did this, you need the rescue, root, and 3 driver
disks for a total of 5 disks. Worked great for me.

I've been installing debian most all day, so I'm probably missing something
really obvious here, but I'm having a real problem with the printer setup.
How do I get printing setup correctly in debian? I have installed lprng and
magic filter but I can't get it to print. I have also tried printtool,
I was able to get this working with a script that one of the list members
supplied me with. If you need it please email me and I will send it to you.

I just did a new cd install of 2.2. I have a 15g hard drive, 5g of which is
a windoze partition, 5g for Linux and another 5 free space for BSD when I

Recently I did a 2.2 cd install of debian. Before I'd been running the
libranet version of debian. I am sourcing the keybind-1.2i file and it has
F1 linked to the mutt manual. But, it doesn't work. Trying to get vim to
read a .gz file doesn't work either, whereas it used to work with the
