I made a small graphical app with Python/GTK. When installing it
(manually or via pip3), it properly appears in the software list.
However, after starting the app, Gnome does not show my icon but a
default one, indicating it is missing or invalid. I installed LXQT to
compare, and result
In the meantime I found xinput and installed it. Good tool. But things go slow
due to lack of time. I will come back a bit

Hi,
I tried to upgrade from Debian 9.12.. (for which the Dell monitor worked
well) to buster and got the above message. Also it says "Optimum
resolution 1280 x 1024". I tried the howtoforge.com advice but without
success.
Any advice for an ordinary user, appreciated.
