This turned out to be a hardware problem after all - short in an
ethernet cable. Though I don't understand how I got quite the symptoms I
did, it has now all been working for a couple of days so I guess that
was it.

het probleem al. Ik had gehoopt dat met de nieuwere versie het probleem
zou zijn verholpen. Niet dus.
Als enige reguliere gebruiker van Debian heb ik geen beheersrechten.

Hello while using my system with the KDE desktop manager, my system
became unresponsive for about 30 seconds, after I was able to only
move the mouse around but nothing else was accessible. I could still
see all the windows, then both my monitor went black. I had to do a
cold boot to get everything
