Parameters are passed through /etc/default/grub, and OS other than Linux are
detected by osprober (app to install with the package wearing the same

But doesn't change the fact you shouldn't touch /boot anymore, everything is
done in /etc/default/grub and /etc/grub.d then processed by update-grub(2).

I've a web server (server1) with 30G data footprint - i used to rsync
the directory to a rather frail (but expensive) VM, but the sheer no.

ever since rsync failed on me, i run squid as reverse proxy on the VM
against server1 - it works "ok", but

Well, I'm actually making progress here. I went back and started over.
This time I didn't install the desktop task - only the standard system
one. Everything from the command line seems to work fine, including ps.
