Hello, I had the strangest problem tonight. There are new versions of many GNOME 2 packages, but apt-get does not offer to upgrade them. For example, the gnome-panel2 package was at 2.0.0-1 according to apt-cache show, and the installed version was 1.5.something. But, when I did apt-get install

KDE3 kdeinit no found

I've just installed kde3 on a debian 2.2.12 machine. On startup kdm (Ithink) brings up the kde3 splash screen. I login and the first error box say can't start kdeinit, the second error box says something about a sm???server not being found. I've read a lot of the lists answers about kde3 problem

Hello All! When I compile a package from source using "apt-get --only-source -b source ", then intsall with "dpkg -i ", my local packages get overwritten the next time I perform an "apt-get upgrade". What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks! __

apt-get problem

I am setting up a new box and I had woody and KDE installed from a CD I got several months ago. I was installing some more stuff and somehow ended up with the error output below. A step that occurred before this was to start an upgrade from both woody and sid without a preferences file. I ab

I have my Visor syncing with Evolution on my laptop fine... The one difference in my setup and from what you don't mention is that I also use devfs so the device nodes don't exist until I hit the sync button... The only thing I had to do was increase the timeout variable for the pilot link

OT question sorry but i need salution fast ....

well sorry fro this but i couldent find any other place to ask this question & i need the salution very badly this will gratly benift me well i have 2 ethernet networks running which i want to connect but the distance between them is above 400 meters .. so this is way beyond the normal lan hardwar
