The .deb contains the source code, and when you run 'dpkg --install qmail' it
automagically unpacks it, compiles it, and asks if you want to install the
finished product. I was quite impressed when I tried it, and have been quite

I upgraded from kernel 2.0.34 to kernel 2.2.4 which came on my
Debian-CDs. Now printing has stopped. I compiled lp and parport
as modules, changed the printcap to point to /dev/lp0 instead of
lp1. The printer (Nec Silentwriter2 S60P - Postscript) seems to

some time it works for 1 minute, and it scratch when I click in the

I can solve it a little by using : xf86config

I assume you are using pppconfig to set up the dialing. When it asks for
a name for the connection give it a name. After everything else is OK
type this at a root prompt: pon (where XXX is the name you gave the
connection) and your modem should start-up.
