Okay, here's one I haven't seen mention of...
I'd like to have 2 login screens come up when kdm (or xdm) starts up - one
that I can log in as root on, and another for my normal user account (which I
use most often). I've seen reference to multiple displays in the X docs, but
it isn't very clear o

Make sure that logging is enabled in the ppp conf files and then look in the
log files for any errors. Also, did you try running the scripts yourself? Do
they run happily?
Hey,
I have a Memorex CRW-1622 2/2/6 CD-RW and it works great. If
you get it and need help setting it up, feel free to email me. It's

I want to buy a cd-writer. I don't need rewritable support at present

I've seen a new Yamaha model that's affordable. Are they good and well
supported with Linux ?
Thanks in advance.

I need a program that can read Excel xls spreadsheet and possibly export

Are you sure they are not running? They are run with stdout redirected to
/dev/null, so you won't see any output.

Actually, Winzip (since 6.x anyway) can handle the format fine. It takes a
couple passes, though, and I've had problems sometimes with Linux trying to
read the results, but if the objective is just to unwrap a package to see
what's in there it will work...

I know this is going to sound cheesy to all you hardcore guys out there, but
is there a way to bring back the install script that comes with slink at the
beginning of the install process? It's the script that let's you choose

There is no good way. If you need the scripts to tell you something, have them
store it in a file. the ppp scripts could be run via an X app, so you would
