I'm running a mostly "hamm" system at the moment, with only a few
non-critical packages taken from "slink". I'm tempted to go
all-"slink" sometime soon, and upgrade my base stuff to the latest of
everything. Can I do this simply by switching off the "hold"
instructions on everything and letting a

If you want to use a debian package for netscape you have to first download the
netscape tar from netscape.com, then place it in /tmp owned as root. Then you
use dselect to choose the appropriate netscape package.

That's a slink problem. 'plog -f' works fine in 2.0.

No, but if you send me a copy of the log you get with those options

It works here, on a straight hamm box.

Almost ll debian packages should work w/ either 2.x kernel. kerneld needs to
be turned off by commenting auto from /etc/modules. Everything else should
work fine.

Hi,
I have two questions before installing Debian and was hoping someone here
might know the answer to either one or both of these. Please cc me on
replies for I am not subscribed to this list yet.

It shouldn't. I installed a 2.1 kernel right after a vanilla setup of
hamm, and haven't had almost any problems.

Thanks.
I just tried the way you showed me. I downloaded the communicator from
ftp.netscape.com and put it under /tmp. Then I run dselect and chosen ftp
as access. I ftp to ftp.debian.org and select netscape. The problem is the
dselect always complain that it can not find several file, like libg++2

Greetings all,
I've successfully installed Debian 2.0 on my Dell Latitute CPi 300Mhz

I'm looking for hints/recommandation for how to setup the laptop to be

Dear all,
I have grabbed the libc6 verion of netscape, and installed the
following packages:
netscape-base-4 5
netscape-base-4 4.07-1
I have no netscape binary - only netscape-remote, which fails with not
running on display :0.0, when clearly it is (or so env says)
Which package do

Hi everyone, all of a sudden my root login seems to have broken.
When I su to root, it just stops and doesn't do anything. When I switch
to another VC and try to login as root, it gets as far as telling me I have no
mail, then it just stops.I have to press Ctrl+C to get out in both cases.
