There's a nice mini howto on this topic; maybe it is even included in
the standard /usr/doc/..., can't check it now.
I'm d/l'ing 2.0.29 now, will tell you in a day or so if it helped me.
Thanks
for the tip Tim...

1) Is there a way to turn on Numlock by default, or better yet, to
prevent it from being turned off? My BIOS sets Numlock to ON when I boot,
but when I load the kernel (with lilo) it turns numlock off. :(

Found it. Thanks to Peter, Daniel, Steve and Luis for the advice. I wanted
access to the list of drivers found in /usr/src/linux/drivers/cdrom/Config.in.
The correct selection was `CD-ROM drivers (not for SCSI or IDE/ATAPI drives)'
and the process is much easier using `make menuconfig.'

Hi,
Ive been trying to install Debian 1.2 for the last few days with
absolutely no success. The problem is occuring VERY early on in the
process, while trying to boot from the initial rescue/boot floppy. The
system happily displays all the device initialisation messages, and after
the cd-rom is

This subject brings up a question I've had for a long time. Bash appears
to be the shell that I get when I log in as root or do an su command.

Hello,
Can anybody please point me in the right direction (hints, docs,
links, etc.) as to how I could tell my Linux box to use a Proxy server
for outbound connections (http *AND* ftp). They just put a Proxy
server on the ftp protocol, and my ncftp stopped working.

I found no option to deselect this mount count check in the mount man pages.

I'm having trouble getting a useful mapping of Backspace/Delete.
I've read the Key-Setup mini-HOWTO and the xmodmap documentation
and I'm still at a loss.
Under X I'd like to use Backspace normally, but I'd also like
to rlogin (from an rxvt terminal) and run emacs on a remote host.
