Indeed you didn't. I think the problem is mine. I've been able to delegate

Folks (and esp. kernel-source/image maintainters),
Based on the following experience, I would like to suggest that that
the kernel package should "depend on" or "recommend" Lilo>17. At the
very least, it might be good to give a heads up to problems with
versions earlier than 18 in the README.

I tried running acm (flight simulator) and my system gives the error message:
unable to find libx11.so.6 or something like that. I checked and this
file actually exists. Do I need to set some path to enable acm to access
it? How would I do that? Thanks a lot.

"frozen" seems to be mostly gone from ftp.debian.org . I'll ask Greg Hankins,
the administrator, to look into the problem.

It's not a big deal. We had some argument about what belonged in the release,
and as a consequence I decided

Absolutely not. Debian is strong and growing. This entire mess
was actually a bit of a growing pain with different people having
different ideas about what would make Debian the strongest.
There is no cause for concern regarding the

I got a message out to debian-announce within an hour after I made a
decision.

PPP is included in the 1.2 base disks, along with a "dselect" FTP method.
If you do a floppy install, you don't need to add anything to have dial-up
IP. If you don't do a floppy install you need the "ppp", "netbase", "netstd",

These are the 1.1 boot disks from 6 months ago with "initrd" added and a
few bug-fixes like keyboard configuration. It's not like it's a brand-new

Has anyone succeeded in compiling numerical python ?
I am currently running the debian pre-1.2 distribution found
