All, i have just aquired a new Dell Poweredge 6850 with md1000 raid. It has the perc 5/i and perc 5/e. The 5/i has 1 75 gig 15k drive and the 5/e has 14 146 gig 15k drives. They are all SAS. It is going to be used as a vmware server for win2k3 guests. What would be the optimal raid setup

This is a bigger issue than you surmise. RAID collections are activated after the system boots because information about the RAID set has to be fed to the RAID drivers. It's possible someone has devised a way of feeding this information to the kernel at boot time. These problems can be alleviated

Hello Group, I want to setup my potato to run a raid(mirror everything. I have a drive I took out of a win nt machine thats formated as ntfs. Once I install it in the linux box what will I need to do to get it running? I have never installed a second drive in Linux. How will I format it? Will I nee
