Well, maybe not an ideal solution, but this worked:
1. Deleted all *gmane* files and directories in News directory in my
mozilla profile
2. Delete all lines having gmane.org in prefs.js.
3. Deleted panacea.dat (dont' know if this was necessary).

whenever I do any operation: change to a another newsgroup, grab new
messages; mozilla composer prompt me with a message box asking:
