Hello Michael,
I used the mkttdir in the debian package. It didn't find all of the
truetype fonts that I had installed (converting all of the file names
to lower case is supposed to fix this, but I was lazy), but it
worked. There have been a couple of recent threads on this in
Debian-user (the one

Ok, the FDU-HowTo says to use ttmkdir, but all that's packaged with Debian
is mkttfdir in the fttools package. That doesn't seem to be all that
impressive though, as any version I use from stable to unstable merely
segfaults.
Has anyone been able to update their fonts.dir fil

There was an ITP in January, but I don't think it's been uploaded yet.

I had problems with mkttfdir too--it didn't segfault, but I have several
fonts that it fails to
Hi,
I wanted TrueTypes on Linux box so I installed fttools (I'm using testing) and
copied the TrueTypes from a win98 partition to /usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType and
then ran mkttfdir. The result was a segmentation fault. The fonts.dir-file was
partially completed (35 fonts out of 53) after mkt

Now it says use ttmkfdir; I've searched everywhere and I can't find this
in any Debian package. The mailing lists suggest using mkttfdir instead

on me too :(
It was also the reason for X not to run (at least with xtt,
freetype works but I would prefer xtt) and making me buy a new
graphics card (Ok. Having an old S3Virge-PCI card it was time
for this step anyway)

hello all,
mkttfdir is segfaulting on me. i'm posting this before contacting the
package maintainer.
i think i recall reading a post that truetype fonts can't have internal
spaces in their names. is this true? could be caused by entries in
font.dir like:
suckgolf.ttf -misc-I su
