2. use sun's bin installation package, it works on debian too
3. download sun's bin pack, then apt-get install java-package, then use:

I am not familiar with java. A software in my box need java2
environment. Using aptitude search, i find there is a package
java2-common(i am using debian unstable).
After installation of that package, i find the java environment is
still not available.
