getting USB CDRW to work

Hi! I am trying to get an external USB CD writer to work. I bought an empty USB<->IDE case and it works fine for harddisks. With the CDRW drive I can mount CD's with no problems. Unfortunately, cdrecord doesn't recognize the drive as being a writable device. The drive is a Lite-On LTR32123S. On
