I'm trying to install about 1GB worth of packages on a computer with a
slow net connection (this is immediately after a clean Squeeze
install). Someone told me about apt-zip, so I gave it a go.
The trouble was, I was at home and the computer I wanted to install on
wasn't. So I created

Hello!
I am using apt-zip to upgrade my old laptop from Etch testing
(when I installed on tjis laptop Debian Etch, then Etch was in
testing state) to Etch stable.
I red the tutorial
http://linuxbasics.org/tutorials/using/apt-zip
and man apt-zip.
I did the following steps:
sudo aptitude update
o upgrade a box not connected to the Internet?

Just to eliminate the "obvious", you are running `apt-get update` before
using apt-zip, right? (You still need up-to-date package lists.)

I'm getting an empty list. The info file doesn't seem very clear on how to use
it. The fetch script is only 850 bytes. When I run it I get an empty tar
file.
I tried running with various options, all resulting in no files to fetch.
apt-zip-list -m /floppy -a upgrade -o tar

Hi,
I want to download a Debian package with depends from computer with Windows.
I use apt-zip. But in scripts that are generated with apt-zip aren't
any URL's with packages. Maybe it's because I have installed Debian
from cdrom and in my computer isn't Packages.gz file.
Hi,
Are apt-zip-list and apt-zip-inst meant to be used with zip/floppy drives only?
i.e., does the
medium need to be writable after a mount? How about using CD-R/RW with apt-zip? Has
anybody tried
this?
I am wondering if the following will work.
1) Use apt-zip-list to create the fetch
to get there we could likely loose all along the way,
plus mom needs to use it while we are gone.
