Hi !
I was wondering if you can help me with this issue. I have looked on the
news groups and talked to others but the issue still has not been resoved.

I have read that using Xwrapper I could use X server as normal user. Now
if I type 'startx' in console my screen goes black and I can only kill the
X server. Should I put Xwrapper somewhere into my rc files? How?
How dangerous is it to run Xserver as suid root if I am not connec

I upgraded to slink now when I run X I get some error about Xwrapper and not
to set the X server to SUID, the error conveniently does not tell me what
package contains Xwrapper. Where is this file.

Thanks to Patrick, and all for help here.
In earlier debugging, I had inadvertantly deleted /etc/X11/X, and made
this a symbolic link to the xserver (hard-linked to /usr/X11R6/bin/X).
This is a good way to hose your setup with the wrapper! It's nice to
see that Debian will just plain refuse to r

There is no file named Xwrapper. I think you're trying to do something the
RedHat way and not the Debian way. In this case it doesn't matter which is
better or worse, but you can't use dis

I'd try reinstalling X, then getting the Netscape installer
deb package (there used to be one, you have to grab netscape
off a Netscape site then install the .deb).
You can reinstall packages by having the .deb file available
(in the current working directory, or append the path to the
file name)

AFAIK there is no deb for "the wrapper" butmy system seems to use
a wrapper script (my xserver isn't SUID)

My real problem right now, is that X seems to have installed itself
without Xwrapper, and only root can launch X! I don't want to setuid
