couldn't get the ~elphick/postgresql apt thingie to work, so i'm omitting that for now (hopefully the official woody version will work) and i went and did apt-get update apt-get upgrade 49 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 264 not upgraded.

Hi all! I finally cracked the problem, but it's driven me crazy. With a working postfix in potato (postfix 0.0.19991231pl11-1) I updated to woody, and thus, also to the new postfix (postfix 0.0.20010502.SNAPSHOT-5). Upon running postfix, it gave out no error messages but did not really start. Exam
