Hi,
I'd like to set up an auto-backup from cron. I run taper with the
following command line, but it always gives me its help without any error
message.
taper --append-on --erase-tape-off --unattended-id -1 -g `date` -t "Aryo

Hi,
After some testing, I decided to use taper as my backup software.
With the compress method 2 of taper, it can only reach about 6-7 Mb/min (raw
speed) and the tape drive has to stop to wait for data. I try to change some
parameters of the taper (in defaults.h) and it does not seem to help

Both are running latest potato and 2.2.x kernels.
What I want to do is backup to the DAT from the K6, and I'd like to use
taper. I can tar to [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/dev/st0 or /dev/nst0 just fine, and from

Last week I upgraded one of our machines from hamm to slink. Today I

Is this a random glitch or are the two events related. If so, then
other taper users should be warned!

Hi all,
I can't get taper to finish its run when called from roots crontab.
When I run it from roots command line it works just fine. My crontab

It starts and selects the fileset that is defined in 'full'. But then

Hi all,
I have managed to install my tape drive ( Seagate travan 3200 on a floppy

out how to make the modules detect the new floppy controller ( not easy in
my case :-) ) . As far as I can see only taper exists for user

I'm sure it still is. I've corresponded with the author only a few months
ago. Maybe he's busy or on vacation..

Hello,
I've just installed the Taper 6.8.2 backup to tape programme.
I have encountered a curious phenomena namely that I cannot type any

The cursor left and right arrows are the only things that work.
The programme is a semi-gr

Hi,
I am getting ready to start backing up my production Debian GNU/Linux

I would like to know which program Debian users recommend me to use.
I am a little bit concerned about using dump since I read this in the

I can reproduce this as well. This may be related to bug #70
