I, too, have this Esoniq card. I have also had exactly the same
problem of not getting any sound out of it.
Could you tell me what, exactly, you did to make it work. What is
this OSS software? How can I install it and what is it called?

I use a sb32 (pnp pci) sound card, it works great.
Also, make sure your speakers are plugged in and
