OK, I did the apt-get source -b one package at a time. rep went fine, but
rep-gtk craps out with the message:
gcc -shared gnomelib-support.lo gnomelib-glue.lo -L/usr/lib
/usr/lib/libgnome.so /usr/lib/libgnomesupport.so /usr/lib/libesd.so
/usr/lib/libaudiofile.so -lm -ldb /usr/lib/libglib.so
