You can use the 'texdoc' tool to conveniently read a file in this
tree. For a good beginner's reference, I'd recommend "The No

I just downloaded and installed Lyx using aptitude on a Sarge system.
The package recommends also installing 'sgml-tools' which, from its
name, sounds like a good idea, but the search function in aptitude
cannot find a package of that name. Where might I find it?

Hello,
Thanks for all of the replies. Last I check out the LDP (
about a week ago ) they said that all HOWTO's still needed to be in
LinuxDoc format instead of DocBook. I have not found any information
about customizing LinuxDoc though I have found plenty about DocBook.
My intention now is

Not sure, but I think that even the sgmltools2 is
Hello,
I am not sure exactly where to ask this question, but the
README.Debian file for sgml-tools says that version 1 is orphaned
upstream. I take that to mean that I might not get help from the
upstream authors.
Anyway my problem is this: I am writing a HOWTO in LinuxDoc
format
I have newly installed sgml-tools and have used the formatter 'sgml2latex'
successfully except for producing postscript. The error message is
Error: Invalid value 'filename.sgml' for '--papersize'
As an sgml newbie I know not what to do e.g. does the sgmltool.d

The filenames have not changed accidentally, I am running the command from the
same directory where the sgml file is, I have tried it with the the sgml-tools
pkg (which was not an upgrade, but a fresh installation) and it

Hmmm. It works for me using this syntax. Here are some considerations:
No filenames have changed accidentally?
Am I using it in a wrong manner or is there a bug:
$ sgml2latex -a example.sgml
SGML-Tools driver version 0.99.7
Usage:
driver.pl [options]
General options:
--papersize={a4,letter} -s {a4,letter}
--language={en,english,english,de,deutsch,german,nl,nederlands,dutch,fr,franç

Hi,
psgml is merely an Emacs major mode for editing SGML files,
and not really related to perlsgml --- Unfortunately, I have not used
lyx, and currently do not have linuxdoc-sgml installed (I removed it
a couple of weeks ago, for reasons that escape me now), so I can't

I need to use linuxdoc to write some help files, but the sgml2lyx isn't
working. I get an error stating linuxdoc.dtd is missing but is is exactly
where the script is looking for it.
The perlsgml package is broken since the version in bo depends on
perl-base and not perl. The version in unstable
I cannot produce html files with sgml2html (even example.sgml and
guide.sgml). Apparently, other kinds of output work fine. I suppose
the problem is in sgml-tools (I use version 0.99.7-1)
It says :
