I guess you have gpm already running. There are sometimes problems
with gpm and
ning gpm, then the device you want is probably /dev/gpmdata,
otherwise it's probably /dev/ttyS0 as you note.

On the debian website there is a FAQ-o-matic which covers this. I just
checked and it seemed to be down but it might be up by the time you
get this. It's in the documentation section.
