Have you compiled cdrom and iso9600 support into the boot kernel? A bootable cd from what I understand is made from a 1.44 disk image that is added by the cd burning program as a special part of the disc. man xcdroast or appropriate burner. I'm not sure if lilo is bright enough to mount hdc as
