That's one drawback. There at least is one other drawback, it installs
and starts with Compiz and for Nvidia cards it installs nouveau by
default.

Hi troll! ;-
Yes, of course. The user belongs to audio group. If it doesn't, I won't
be able to play any audio using mplayer or the 3.5" jack output.

for audio it's better than a clean Debian install, since for good
reasons, it ships without pulse.

Jose,
Did you make sure your users are part of the audio group?

Hi!
I have a computer with a HDMI output. If I use the default audio output (3.5"
jack) it works fine, but when I try to use the HDMI one, I have some problems.
I tried to configure it using the pulseaudio GUI, I can't get it working. If I
use a program that allows to select which audio output

My problem is that sound takes a long time to start up after system boot.
Sometimes I have to reload or restart the Alsa daemons, which sometimes seems
to help. Playing music for a long time will eventually cause sound output to
start.

Hi all,
I'm having this problem with an Intel 82801CA sound card and Kernel 2.6.5 on
my laptop. There's no sound at all? I have sound with my 2.6.4 kernel? Maybe
just the drivers/driver in 2.6.5? When I boot the 2.6.5 kernel and run
alsaconf it finds the card and sets everything up fine, but wh
On a sidebar ... When logging into KDE I do hear sound, but it sounds like it

Hi,
I am using Kernel 2.4.22 with ALSA. Alsa is working fine so far with KDE,
but it can't get it working with enemy territory.
I get the following error message (from et console output):
[..]

/dev/dsp: Input/output error
Could not mmap /dev/dsp

Hi,
I've just compiled ALSA modules with a 2.4.17 kernel for a Intel 8x0
soundcar. I've used alsaconf for configuring these modules, I've used
alsamixer for opening the sound channel and I've stored the configuration
with alsactl. The ALSA modules are loaded as lsmod shows (snd-card-intel8x0,

Hi..
I am having problems with alsa and oss emulation.. both modules for oss
emulation are loaded and oss-mixer works since from xanim I am able to
change the PCM values shown in gamix.
The problem is that if I just cat file.au > /dev/audio or /dev/dsp it

But is such expecting some problems ...
When i use 'modprobe snd-sb16' command,
the driver isn't recognize my card, he said it's not here or busy.
My card is a Pnp card, so i have configured isapnp tools,
and all seems to be allright...
