I installed Netscape 3.01 last night, and it seems to be working fine.
I did have a hard time finding the correct version to download from the
Netscape servers.
Netscape has moved the old versions of their software to:

Hello,
I recently upgraded to libc6 and bash 2.01-5 using the libc6 Mini-HOWTO
(thanks Scott, I had no problems doing the upgrade).
I understand the upgraded version of bash is supposed to fix problems
with Netscape helpers, and one of the things I thought the upgrade would
do for me is fix a pro

There are 2 Netscape install packages, one for 3.01 versions, and one for
communicator BETA versions. I havn't tested the one for communicator.

Would you happen to know if the latest beta (communicator-v40b5*) will
work with the *.deb install shell?

Thats the problem, Netscape will only make it available through a web page
using a cgi that checks where you are (to make sure your in the US).
The program is offered up as 'promise.cgi', not the real file name.
I'm going to check it out today, see if it works.

I've never tried it. If the filenames within the archive are the same,
then it should.

Does the installer for Netscape/gold 3.01 work with the 128bit version ?
I'll have to rename promise.cgi to what the installer wants.

Something I know how to answer!! You'll need to download netscape for Linux
from home.netscape.com. You can find it by following the menu choices -- it's
layed out pretty good. I suggest you place the tar-file in root's home
directory
or a subdirectory thereof, then make a symbolic link to it

Hi All,
I tried to install it from 'contrib' but it was an installer
not a package itself. So what I should to do?
Thanks forward,

libc5_5.4.7-7 will be in the archive soon, and it includes the older
malloc as a seperate library
My installation is up-to-date with unstable.
Since I installed libc5_5.4.7 (and Netscape 3.01), Netscape almost

http://www.amdahl.com
probably because of the Java Applet.
I know this was discussed just recently. It seems the options
are to disable Java in
