Thank you all for your quick responses. Setting systemd to ignore the lid event did not work (HandleLidSwitch=ignore), nor did installing xfce4 power manager (in fact it broke my suspend button). I also tried un-installing acpid and that had no effect. I haven't tried updating the kernel, but

Good Afternoon, I have weird problem with the lid switch on an old Dell Latitude D505 laptop. I did a clean install of Jessie and everything is working fine, except the lid switch freezes the computer. It's not a suspend problem, because I can suspend properly from the shutdown menu
