Help! I haven't used the seminar package for a year or so; now, when
creating the slides for a class lecture tomorrow, suddenly all slides
come out upside-down. This happens with using l

Earlier today I posted a problem importing an R graph into a LaTeX file of
seminar class: specifically, the graphic was showing up rotated 180
degrees, along with the rest of the page it was on.
In a real victory for open-source software, I got lots of responses with
three distinct approaches, eac
Thanks - I started with your suggestion, played around a little bit, and
ended up with:
\includegraphics[scale=.37,angle=270,keepaspectratio=T]{crime.eps}
which works adequately. I would still love to know why the rotation
happened, since the graph displays right-side-up in gv. The fact that even

Rather than what you have above, what about something alo
Greetings-
Using the seminar package to develop a lecture, I'm using graphicx to
include an eps chart exported from R:
\resizebox{\textwidth}{\textheight}{\includegraphics{crime.eps}}
For some odd reason, the *entire* slide (include page number) is
rotated 180 degrees (upside-down).
So I tried
Thanks for the tips. Here is what I have figured out (and I still don't
know why) but it may explain why some have reproduced this problem, and
others haven't.
-The problem only exists if you use \maketitle (If I comment out
\maketitle, then placing \pagestyle{empty} before \begin{document}

This is neither a woody, nor a potato or a sid issue. The behaviour of
LaTeX concerning page non-numbering with \pagestyle{empty} and
\thispagestyle{empty} also depends on the other packages which are loaded
at the beginning of the file, some of which can re-initialise page
numbers.
Have a look at

I have exactly the same problem. This is the
error I get for output:
"This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (Web2C 7.2)
I can't find the format file `tex.fmt'!
"
The problem is texconfig is not being able to
generate the .fmt files necessary (even when
run in the batch mode). The first occurance of

Hi!

I assume you ported
Hi:
The format files should be in the texmf/web2c subdirectory. Have
you run texconfig?
I did sometimes get this problem running latex2e files, and I was
able to get around this by: 1. creating a link of tex in /usr/bin to
a file called latex2e and 2. in texmf/webc copying latex.fmt to
late
I have ported TeX/Latex onto my machine HP UX 10.20
But everytime I use tex/latex I get:-
"I Can't find the format file 'tex.fmt'/'latex.fmt'
What is wrong. Can someone help please?
Thanks in advance

Oops... please ignore my previous request for help - it does not
contain enough information - the given example code works - I finally
found the real-code error (but maybe a (La)TeX as well, we'll see).

Hi
Sorry if this is FAQ: I'm new to LaTex and have a problem with the
sample2e.tex example document:
\documentclass{article}
and
\section{Ordinary Text}
I only get the "O T" printed.
The installation is from a 1.3.1 Debian CD.
Does anybody know what has happened here?
Than
After a number of very pleasant folks indicated that my sample
input produced correct results on their system, I re-installed all
of the TeX stuff and it has started working. I don't recall seeing
any problems with the first install, but the second one did it.
Thanks to all who responded. What
As some of you might remember I asked if there were any LaTeX problems
a week or so ago and received a few responses that indicated that
it was working for them. So I discarded my old reliable 1.2.13
system and installed 2.0.6 with all of the new elf software and
mostly all is well, except LaTeX
